What Customers Say About First Day Jitters:

again. He whispered in my ear that he'd hold my hand if I got scared of the noisy kids. This book is an excellent example of how I felt many times beginning the first day of school. A few years ago, one little boy took my hand and pulled me closer to him. Some kids tell their thoughts of apprehension and crazy dreams. We laugh ourselves silly and I tell them, "I just hate the jitters, don't you. Many of my positions were in tough inner city schools so I had reason to get the jitters. The kids love and are relieved when an adult shares their scary feelings, especially when the experience is so similar.

His grandmother had told him that the teacher was as scared as he was, "after all, your teacher is only one, and you kids are many". Let's shake all over and get rid of those nasty jitters." Sometimes I tell them that when they feel the jitters coming on, they can come hold my hand untill they feel O.K. I'm a teacher of 28 yrs. Everything always turned out fine; my fondest memories are working and loving those so called "tough kids". Now I read them this book or the older students read it to me.

This book was just perfect to give to the little ones from our story hours group who were moving up to kindergarten. We gave it to them with their goody bag send off.

Hartwell tries to encourage her by saying, "Of course you're going, honey.as he walked to the window and snapped the shade. She said her head hurts and didn't feel well to try to get away from going to school. I like this book because it is very funny. This book is about Sarah Jane Hartwell. I would recommend this book for children from ages 5-10. Mr.

Look for the surprise ending. I read First Day Jitters on the night before the first day of third grade. She did not want to go to school on the first day. This book made me feel excited for the first day of school.

Recommended. Even though he's not fearful of starting school, I think it helped him to see that teachers and grown-ups have feelings and anxieties, just like kids. My 5 yr old son, who is very excited about starting kindergarten in few months, was thoroughly amused and laughed out loud at the surprise ending when I first read this book to him. It's now one of our favorites. (FWIW, my 4 yr old didn't "get it", probably just a little too young for this level of humor).

I also liked the surprise ending that I believe every child and/or adult who reads this book will love. This is a great book to read to children going to their first day of school or moving to a new school. It shows that everyone, regardless of age, can experience "first day jitters."
